As described on our home page Orbital is a student society which exists to bring together, and support, all first year students who live outside of the traditional halls of residence structure. With around 1000 new members every year we are one of the biggest societies at the University. We are run by students for students and have a democratically elected committee, elections usually taking place just before the Easter holidays every year.
The society maintains strong links with the Student Union, though it is not formally affiliated to it, organising representation for its members by sending officers to Student Council. We also maintain strong relations with the University's Student Housing Office.
