Orbital - Freshers Out Of Halls

Freshers' Fortnight

Home

As the largest student society at the University of Bristol Orbital exists to bring together, and support, all first year students who live outside of the traditional halls structure; whether they be living in Student Houses, at home, or in private accommodation.

As an active and friendly student community we organise social events throughout the academic year, often taking advantage of the close proximity of our members to the thriving city centre. Starting with the two weeks of Freshers' Fortnights the society's most popular events have, in previous years, included our Christmas Ball, paintballing and even trips abroad.

Alongside a packed social calendar Orbital also has a strong presence in the University's Intramural Sports Leagues fielding sports teams in a wide range of sports with the chance to get involved whatever the level of ability. As a society we also encourage our members to become involved in charitable works and every year the society raises thousands of pounds for worthy causes, both local and national.

Orbital also provides representation for its members at the Student Union by sending officers to meetings of both the Student Council and the Student Residences Forum. In addition it often acts as the first port of call for members who need any form of advice or support.

Membership of Orbital is automatic for all students living in University-owned Student Houses, but all first year students living outside of halls are eligible to join. So if you living at home or in private accommodation in your first year then get involved!
